Ozona is located 82 miles southwest of San Angelo on Interstate 10,
in the center of the National Trust Tourism Area. It is an
unincorporated community with population of approximately 3,700 people.
When the residents of the entire county are included, this count rises
to just over 4,000. The average annual temperature is 66.1, with an
average annual rainfall of 13.15 inches. The sea level for Ozona's
airport is 2,370 feet.
Crockett County has an agricultural based economy that is also
greatly enhanced by the oil and gas industry. Crockett County is the
second largest producer of sheep and wool in the world, and the third
largest producer of mohair. There are a large number of gas well
producers and processing plants in the area, which account for much of
the employment.
